About The Artist
For the past 15 years, Ashley Sheehan has been transforming forgotten art into something fresh, bold, and uniquely her own. In 2010, she opened her brick-and-mortar shop, where she launched “Naughty Needlepoint,” a concept that brought irreverent humor to traditional craftwork. Though this style has since been widely adopted by online creators, Ashley was among the first to bring it to life.
Her signature work, known as “Ashley Additions,” breathes new life into thrifted (and new) paintings with snarky, inspiring, and whimsical quotes—turning mundane landscapes and portraits into conversation pieces. When she started, only a handful of artists were reimagining secondhand art this way, but her originality and wit have inspired many to follow suit.
Beyond her thrift store reinventions, Ashley also creates large-scale collages, meticulously assembling bits of paper to form striking portraits. This intricate technique sometimes merges with her upcycled art, further showcasing her eye for detail and layered storytelling.
In 2024, after years of pouring her heart into her brick-and-mortar shop, inflation made it impossible to keep the doors open. While she deeply misses interacting with customers in person, the shift to an online store has been a surprising relief—without the overhead of a physical space, she often finds herself wishing she had done it this way all along.
Now, you can shop Ashley’s poster prints exclusively online, while her original artwork is available on Instagram (@oldmadegood), with select pieces soon to be added to the website. Every purchase truly makes a difference—this isn’t just a business; it’s how she and her husband keep the lights on at home.
As for the future? Who knows. Maybe one day, there will be another brick-and-mortar. But for now, Ashley is embracing this new chapter, creating art on her own terms, and finding joy in the freedom it brings.
